The Annual Balsall Common Fun Run first appeared in the local calendar in 2014 as part of the Balsall Common Festival, as a result of initial conversations between then Festival Chairman, Craig Burgess and Lily Mae Foundation Chairman Ryan Jackson.
In the Summer of 2013 Ryan had asked Craig why Balsall Common didn’t have a Fun Run and Craig kept the conversation in mind for the following year’s Festival, in the hope something might happen in 2014.
Ryan agreed to speak to his team about taking it on. And the rest – as they say – is history.
Balsall Common Fun Run
From the inaugural edition in 2014 to the present date The Lily Mae Foundation has co-ordinated an increasingly successful event that brings the community together every September.
In addition to all the runners who raised funds for their own causes – the 2016 event raised £10773.26 towards the work of The Lily Mae Foundation – the Balsall Common based charity which supports parents and families who have suffered a stillbirth or neonatal death.
In 2017 the Fun Run will start and finish at The Heart of England School for a 4th successive year.
