Meriden is part of Solihull Borough, has a City in Connecticut named after it and sits between Solihull and Coventry, occupying greenbelt land known as The Meriden Gap, which separates the cities of Coventry and Birmingham.
Meriden – Centre of England
Meriden has an intriguing history, including a legend and monument proclaiming the village as the official ‘Centre of England’. The source of the legend is unclear, but thanks to the advent of modern technology the true claim on the title appears to belong elsewhere.
The village has a population of approximately 3000, situated close to major transport arteries including the West Coast Mainline, the M5, M6 and M42, in addition to the presence of Birmingham International Airport on its’ doorstep.
